Jumpers👉🏽⚡⚡

If you zoom in to either photo, you’ll notice the jumpers installed in the left side portion of each meter socket. Jumpers serve a purpose, but should never be relied on for continuous use. As an electrical contractor you’ll notice that most instances in a residential setting, is a direct result of theft. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL 👉🏽⚡⚡!! Most people who are willing to steal electricity aren’t going to mention it to an Electrician. ALWAYS BEGIN WITH SAFETY !!

Your 1st line of defense is maintaining focus. In order to do so, you should get a good night’s rest, and refrain from intoxication. Have a good breakfast and use the rest room prior to task. Be sure to thoroughly inspect your surroundings for trip hazards, puddles of water, bee hives and obstructions among other things.

In addition to your 1st line of defense, Don your PPE, if you are going to deinstall and reinstall a live service. Always wear your updated dielectric gloves with leathers, and protective face shield with ansi approved safety glasses, and ear plugs. Your clothing should be “FR” FLAME RETARDANT or at least 100% cotton. The problem with polyester blends and other synthetic materials is in the event of an ARC BLAST, the synthetic fabrics will burn into your skin, whereas the “FR” and 100% cotton will burn off of your body.

Once suited and booted, use your volt meter to detect live voltages, before, during and after. Always confirm that your life isn’t moments away from death 👉🏽⚡⚡!! If you’re instructed to install approved jumpers by the “AHJ” Authority Having Jurisdiction, then be sure to install the jumpers after, you’ve finished the installation and your at the meter seating stage.

⚡Quick Tip⚡ BE SURE THAT THE MAIN IS IN THE OFF POSITION TO PREVENT ARCING, DUE TO CONNECTED LOADS. USE “LOTO” LOCK OUT TAG OUT, TO GUARANTEE THAT THE PANEL WON’T BE ENERGIZED WHEN YOU GO TO SEAT THE METER OR JUMPERS…

I began my career in electricity in 2005 when I roped my first house alone ,just off of basic instruction. It was then that I knew exactly what I wanted to do professionally. Shortly after I enrolled myself into Orleans Technical Institute in Philadelphia , where I studied Ohms Law , electrical theory just to name a few. I began my apprenticeship working under Master Electricians Allan Carroll and Willis Harrison of A/C Services in Philadelphia. I spent years under they're supervision running circuitry for residential and commercial properties in and around the Philadelphia , Pennsylvania. My thirst for knowledge and understanding is what continues to drive me to this day. I've successfully acquired my Master Electricians License ,and have legitimized my status within the industry. I've been privileged to work all around the country and yet I am but a student of life because, there's so much more to learn. My purpose for this blog site is to help usher the advancement of future electricians because it's pretty tuff when you're just starting out , and there isn't many available avenues that offer a solid education or decent information. It is my mission to display valuable information for higher learning , trade secrets and our industries cutting edge tools.
