Act 108 of 2026 originally known as senate bill 1260, is a bill that will make city, townships and municipality’s electrical licensure statewide. The licensure begins on December 21, 2026 and takes full effect October 22, 2028. Our Governor Josh Shapiro signed Senate bill 1260 (Act 108 of 2026 into law on October 31, 2026. All those currently licensed will be grandfathered in, as long as you’re current and compliant with all state requirements. This is a win for all those in the Trade, whether you’ve had to hold multiple licenses just to operate your business in various municipalities or a helper in search of a decent apprenticeship program in the State of Pennsylvania. Nothing is worse than spending the time and money on a course that holds no merit in the Electrical field because the training is from a school that isn’t accredited or valued by any employer.
That aside, a special thanks goes out to the primary sponsor Mr. Devlin Robinson and all those involved to make this happen. We now can look forward to reciprocity with other States, which will increase earning potential and a consistency of safety practices and electrical installations throughout our region. Personally speaking, this is a dream come true, and I encourage anyone looking to get licensed to take a code course and join the ranks of qualified professionals. If you are in the tri-state area of Philly, Delaware and New Jersey, you can try the Electrical Education Center for continuing education credits, or a N.E.C prep course given by Mr. Richard Van Wert in Bensalem of Pennsylvania.
